Chemical Peels

Skin Medica Rejuvenize Chemical Peels

One week before your Peel, avoid electrolysis, waxing, nair like creams, laser procedures – other than skin tightening, or cosmetic injections.

2 to 3 days before your Peel, avoid Retin – A, Renova, Differin, Tazorac, products containing retinol, alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) or beta-hydroxy acid (BHA), benzoyl peroxide, or any exfoliating products that may be drying or irritating. NOTE: The use of these products/treatments prior to your peel may increase skin sensitivity and cause a stronger reaction.

If you get sunburn, develop a rash, cold sores, or infection prior to your appointment you must reschedule after healing.

  • NO SUN!!!!!!!!!
  • Use soothing topicals – like after a sunburn
  • No peeling or stinging topicals
  • Day 2-3 is when the peeling usually starts – lasts 2-7 days
  • Sometimes there is a 2nd minor wave of flaking at the two week mark
  • Aquaphor and mineral make-up are ok
  • Can schedule more treatments in 6 weeks
  • You can resume regular use of Retin-A, alpha hydroxyl acid products after the peeling process is complete

The degree of peeling/flaking/redness will vary between clients and between procedures on the same client depending on the thickness of skin and exfoliation habits prior. Discuss amount of peeling at the next visit and possibly adjust aggressiveness of future treatments.
